Who We Are
My wife, Amelia, and I, Dwight, began our journey together as husband and wife on August 5th, 2011. Since then, we’ve been blessed to raise six beautiful, fun, and energetic children. Our family is driven by a deep love for people of all ages and a genuine appreciation for the diverse lives and stories we encounter. Over the years, Amelia and I have worked in various fields, but we’ve always shared a mutual passion for caring and loving others.
Our journey into serving the elderly began when our brother-in-law introduced us to Adult Family Homes and explained how these small, close-knit communities differ from larger retirement facilities. As we delved deeper, we were captivated. We fell in love with the idea of providing a home-like atmosphere where seniors can live in comfort and peace while receiving the individualized care they need from qualified and compassionate caregivers. Most importantly, we saw this as an opportunity to raise our children in an environment rooted in love, compassion, and service. While we aim to teach our children the importance of kindness, we often find ourselves learning from them instead!
We believe that everyone flourishes when given a clean, safe environment, nutritious meals to nourish their bodies, and a vibrant community to connect with. At Tender Mercies Adult Family Communities, we are dedicated to creating a loving, clean, and uplifting environment with activities and encouragement that promote emotional and physical well-being.
Our name, “Tender Mercies,” is inspired by scriptures that highlight the kind mercies of God brought to us through His Son, Jesus Christ. Often paired with the word “lovingkindness” in the Psalms, it serves as a daily reminder to extend the same love, kindness, and mercy we have received from above to everyone we meet. This is the foundation of our culture—to love and be kind to all, regardless of their history, background, or beliefs. At Tender Mercies, we truly believe we are all family.
